AOTA Inspire at Philly included so many great vendors and resources that I am sharing my favorites over a couple of blog posts. What’s this month’s focus: resources for the OT clinician including supports for billing policy, documentation and patient education.
Exploring great products is one of my favorite conference activities – hope you enjoy my picks!
Amplify OT: Founded and run by an OT, Amplify OT, meets a unique and practical educational need of occupational therapists –how to navigate the system of cares, billing and policies that dictate all we do. The site offers resources for the OT clinician to strengthen their advocacy efforts on behalf of OT and patients, increase an understanding of the policies, including Medicare, that govern reimbursement and assist in elevating measurable, value-based OT care.
Check out their website at Amplify OT for resources and a free trial of their online learning platform.
The Note Ninjas: Providing practical documentation and treatment tools, the Note Ninjas help OTs and PTs focus on the patient. The site includes templates, examples, and word banks to support thorough and defensible documentation, as well as treatment plans backed by evidenced-based strategies to help keep patients engaged. Membership also includes community support, printable pocket guides, and sessions led by clinicians in specialized settings.
Checkout their website at The Note Ninjas, for more information on the Adult and Pediatric resources offered.
The Occupational Therapy Toolkit: While I might be a bit biased, I believe my book, the Occupational Therapy Toolkit, is the best source of patient education handouts for the OT working with patients with physical disabilities, chronic conditions or geriatric. This 869-page practical resource provides the OT with 110 treatments guides on conditions ranging from Action Tremor to Chronic Pain Syndrome to Hip Fracture to Parkinson’s. The book includes 382 reproducible, full-page, easy-to-read, illustrated handouts for the OT patient. Ranging from ADLs, IDALs, education, and therapeutic exercise, the handouts reinforce one-on-one treatment and provide a reference for patients and caregivers after the appointment. This is a go-to resource that will be used every day.
