October 27, 2024: World OT Day!

by Cheryl Hall on October 22nd, 2024

Join the world’s voice for OT -The World Federation of Occupational Therapists – to celebrate our great profession on October 27, 2024.

The WFOT sets international standards for education, and promotes research and practice excellence.  Representing 633,000 OTs across the globe, WFOT understands that OT does make “lives fit for living”.

The WFOT 2024 theme, “Occupational Therapy for All”, resonated with me.  Many patients, who could benefit the most, do not understand or have access to OT.  Celebrate and promote OT on October 27 to raise awareness and open doors to those patients.

For inspiration and resources, visit the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.

Here is just a sample of what you will find:

  • Download a free Media Pack with logos and graphics translated into several languages so you can easily promote World OT Day across all your social media accounts. Make sure to use the hashtag – #WorldOTDay
  • Participate in the Global Day of Service. There are dozens of ideas on the WFOT website to inspire you.  Make sure to register your efforts so the collective impact can be measured.
  • Join the Occupational Therapy International Online Network. OTION is a free, interactive forum to connect OTs around the world.  Ask a question, share a story or just be inspired by the work of your peers.
  • Add your input to the Occupational Narratives Database Project by uploading a video of you participating in your favorite occupations – I enjoyed stories about washing dishes, coloring and scuba diving.
  • Learn more by accessing dozens of free WFOT Resources developed by WFOT contributors ranging from Position Statements, Minimum Standards, Manuals, Guidelines, Policies and Promotional Materials.
